Hebrew: iz-zim עִזִּֽים
Natural value: Used for one of the three outer layers of the tabernacle and the ropes on the outside of the tabernacle. The hair of a female goat was used. In the original Hebrew text, we do not find the word ‘hair’, we only have the word for a female goat which is aze עֵז. The hair of the goat skin was woven to make the cover; therefore, translators have added the word ‘hair’.
Spiritual value: Life through a sacrifice that brings us into a covenant
Goat’s hair speaks about a sacrifice which leads us into a covenant. A covenant is an agreement formed by a weaker and stronger party. The weaker party gets protection form the stronger one and can live in safety. The weaker party can then flourish and be prosperous. Through the sacrifice of Yeshua, we have been brought into a covenant with God, who is the Strong One, and He brings us to a place where we can live in the safety of His protection so that we can become fruitful.
