Hebrew: Shemen שֶׁמֶן
Natural value: Olive oil for the menorah. The very first oil to come out of the oil press, which is the purest olive oil, was used in the tabernacle and especially in the menorah. The menorah needed to be filled every day with fresh oil.
Spiritual value: Anointing
Two important principles go along with oil and therefore go along with anointing:
1) The oil was intended for the light. People who walk in their anointing shine like a light.
2) The Hebrew word for oil, shemen שֶׁמֶן, means greasy or shiny. Oil has a natural glow and your anointing will give you a certain glow, because you realize, that it doesn’t have anything to do with you and your abilities. God is using you for a specific task and His abilities are working through you.
The more I make Yeshua the Messiah in my life, the more anointing will be released daily so that I will have fresh oil – fresh anointing – every day!
